Wedding entertainment can make or break what is probably the biggest day in your life. When booking live music, consider the location of performers, power supply, size of band, volume and repertoire. Other considerations are suitability for your guests, costs, charges if you run over time, time for setting up/packing down, will you have a point of contact if there is a problem? accessibility- will the band be carrying equipment through your drinks reception or speeches? any special requirements ie; refreshments or accommodation, do you wish to make requests?
Live music from Paul Smith Music comes with Paul Smith as a performer in all of the ensembles. You have a point of contact should things not go to plan so your special day can carry on being special.
- · Ceremony Music: This is possibly the most important so should reflect your wishes with regard to repertoire. Usually I play the electric piano with either piano or church organ sounds for the procession and recession. Repertoire can be what ever you like from light classical to the swing classics of Sinatra or the modern ballads of today. Many couples opt for the traditional though you may have other ideas. I once had a couple leave to the introduction of Wagner’s Bridal March linked to a jazzy version of The Entertainer by Scot Joplin. Click to view the piano repertoire where you also have the opportunity to hear demonstrations including all of the processions and recessions.
- · Wedding Breakfast: This is where both sides of the family usually meet for the first time. It is important for the music to entertain but not intrude on conversation. I usually play the piano for this though P.S. Jazz would also be ideal as the music from the guitar and saxophone is mellow and easy to talk over. Another aspect of P.S. Jazz is that if the venue is small, we can play with no amplification and are able to move locations easily should it be necessary. The saxophone or P.R. Jazz duo/quartet may work for your occasion particularly if you have a larger venue.
- · Drinks Reception: The timings of this can be before or after the wedding breakfast and is weather permitting usually outside. The same ensembles for the wedding breakfast will work well.
- · Evening Entertainment: This is where you and your guests should really enjoy yourselves. The styles of music should suit both you and your guests so you may not require a function band that caters for dancing. If you want to relax and talk more than dance, then P.R. Jazz is ideal as this group can cover some dancing and the volume is much more manageable. If dancing is the pastime, the Fabulous All Stars are a specialist Blues and Soul band and are sure to give your guests a great night.
