Liquorice Stix is a clarinet choir run by Paul Smith for players of all ages and abilities. The group was formed under the Flute Salad family of ensembles by Louise Williams and meet up at Yateleys Music Centre in the term time on Saturdays.
The music is mostly arranged by Paul Smith for the standard of players available. Around half of the ensemble is made up of adults who played when they were at school themselves and the sessions are informal and friendly.
If you play the clarinet or used to play and are not sure if it is ri ght for you, consider coming to a trial session at no cost by booking through the school. The relaxed and fun nature of the sessions mean that you will develop your playing skills whatever your age and ability as the ensemble tackles new material without embarrassment or prejudice.
The ensemble meet up for an hour on Saturday mornings at Yateley School during term time. The sessions currently cost around £30 per term and places are applied through

Besides an informal concert at the end of each term, the group perform for outside events such as school fetes and are available for private bookings. A polo shirt with the Liquorice Stix logo are available for £12 and used for performances.
Liquorice Stix are into their 2nd year now. Repertoire covered in the first year included; The Pink Panther, It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing), Jungle Book Medley, The Entertainer and Barcarolle. This year besides Christmas music, we have covered Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Musik, Over the Rainbow & Marche Militaire by Schubert.
